Garza named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for second consecutive week

Garza was selected as the league's top pitcher for April 16-22.
The right-hander picked up the win last Friday against the Potomac Nationals. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and was lifted with two outs in the frame with the no-no still in tact. He finished with seven strikeouts in his second win of the season. The P-Nats broke up the no-hit bid later in the sixth inning against the Hillcats bullpen.
He came 3.1 innings away from what would have been his second no-hitter, after accomplishing the feat in college with Cal State Fullerton in 2014.
Overall, through three starts this season, the Ontario, Calif. native still has not allowed an earned run through 15.2 innings, and has struck out 19. He's surrendered only four hits during that span.
Garza is at or near the top of the Carolina League rankings in several statistical categories. He ranks first in WHIP (0.51), batting average against (.082), fewest baserunners/9 IP ratio (5.74) and fifth in highest strikeout/ 9 IP ratio (10.91).
Selected in the 8th round by the Cleveland Indians in the 2015 MLB Draft, Garza is one of just two Carolina League starting pitchers that has not yet allowed an earned run through three starts.
The 24-year-old is is in his first season at A-Adv. He played for Single-A Lake County in 2017, and went 4-6 with a 5.83 ERA in his first fully healthy season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2015.
The Hillcats are home through Sunday, as they battle the Winston-Salem Dash, A-Adv. affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and the Potomac Nationals, A-Adv. affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Following today's postponement, Wednesday will feature a double-header with the Dash. Game one is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. It will be Winning Wednesday, where every fan wins by taking home a FREE ticket to the next Hillcats Wednesday home game.
