2014 schedule released, Home Opener June 14

Spikes will again host 38 home games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park

The State College Spikes, Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals, have announced the club's 2014 New York-Penn League schedule and home game times.

The Spikes' 38-game home slate at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will open on Saturday, June 14 against the Williamsport Crosscutters (Phillies) and continue through Saturday, August 30.

Standard home game times will remain 7:05 p.m. for all weekday and Saturday contests and 6:05 p.m. on Sundays. Two exceptions will occur during the 2014 home schedule -- Friday, July 4 (Game Time TBA) and Monday, July 14 (12:00 p.m.).

26 of the Spikes' 38 home games will feature opponents from the NYPL's Pinckney Division, including six against Williamsport and five each against division rivals Auburn (Nationals), Batavia (Marlins), Jamestown (Pirates) and Mahoning Valley (Indians). Non-divisional opponents Aberdeen (Orioles), Brooklyn (Mets), Hudson Valley (Rays) and Staten Island (Yankees) will also make three-game visits to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in 2014.

The Spikes road schedule will include 26 games against division rivals and three-game stops at Connecticut (Tigers), Lowell (Red Sox), Tri-City (Astros) and Vermont (A's). The re-match of the 2013 New York-Penn League Championship Series between the Spikes and Tri-City Valley Cats will take place July 19-21.
