Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals used timely hitting and fantastic pitching to get by Chattanooga Thursday night 3-0 in the series finale. The victory gave Jackson three out of five against the best team in the Southern League on the road at AT&T Field as they head into a crucial series with Montgomery.

Kevin Cron provided much of the run production in Thursday's win. He came up with two outs and one on in the third inning. With a full count, Cron mashed his 32nd double of the year to right-center that allowed Victor Reyes to score from first and get Jackson on the board.
Cron was part of Jackson's eighth inning rally as well. With one out and men on at the corners, his lineout to center scored Galli Cribbs Jr. from third to make it 2-0. The slugger is now tied for the league-lead with 32 doubles and his 80 RBI are 14 better than Tennessee's Jason Vosler.
Jackson (23-22, 60-55) added another run in the eighth inning, with Reyes scoring as Michael Perez got caught in a rundown. The 3-0 edge was more than enough for the Generals, who earned an 11th shutout victory behind strong efforts from a quartet of hurlers.
Joel Payamps (6-5, 4.96) was dynamite again for the Generals, going six innings without allowing a run and issuing just one walk. The Southern League's reigning Pitcher of the Week only faced significant trouble in the sixth. With a runner on second, Jon Rodriguez singled to left field. Jamie Westbrook kept the Lookouts off the board with an outfield assist from left to get Edgar Corcino at the plate.
The righty has now thrown 15 consecutive scoreless innings for Jackson. Payamps was coming off a seven-inning complete game one-hitter his last start. Mason McCullough, Yuhei Nakaushiro and Joey Krehbiel eached pitched scoreless innings in relief to finish it off. Krehbiel (S, 1) earned his first save of the year, striking out three in the ninth inning.
Felix Jorge (9-3, 3.44) suffered just his third loss of the year for Chattanooga despite working into the eighth inning. He allowed all three Jackson runs (two earned) on 10 hits in 7.2 innings. Victor Reyes led the way for Jackson on offense, with three of the team's 11 hits in the win.
The Generals handed Chattanooga (74-41, 32-13) their first series loss since May with the win in the rubber match.
