Mobile, Ala. - For the second time in two nights, a dynamic duo of solo home runs fueled a Jackson Generals victory, as the visitors from West Tennessee took a 4-0 win at Mobile. The conquest, helped by a six-inning start from Taylor Clarke (3-1, 2.25 ERA), gives Jackson (18-9) the series victory over the BayBears (11-17).
Evan Marzilli and Colin Walsh went deep for the Generals, who won their third straight game and lifted their winning percentage nine games over .500 for the first time in 2017. J.R. House's club has now won both of their visits to the Alabama coast, going 7-1 through eight games against the former Arizona affiliate.

The Generals, hitting a league-best .290 entering Friday, made Mobile starter Grayson Long (0-2, 2.81 ERA) pay on a pair of pounded pitches during his five-inning start. In the third, Marzilli led off with a cloud-bursting blast down the right field line at Hank Aaron Stadium, remaining just barely on the fair side of the foul pole to give Jackson a 1-0 lead. Two innings later, Walsh buzzed the clubhouse roof beyond the right field wall for the second time in the series to put the Generals ahead, 2-0.
Jackson loaded the bases in the sixth inning without scoring, but they cracked back on Mobile reliever Brandon Peterson in the seventh. Marzilli opened the frame with a double, followed by a walk from Walsh to put runners on first and second base. After a strikeout and a wild pitch pushed the runners up a base, Victor Reyes chopped a ground ball toward Mobile's second baseman, The throw home from the Mobile infielder was wide of the plate, allowing Marzilli to slide in safely. Walsh would later score on an error by Mobile's right fielder committed after a line drive from Jamie Westbrook, finishing the tally for Jackson.
Clarke, a right-hander facing a predominantly right-handed Mobile lineup, made quick work of the BayBears, needing only 76 pitches to finish a half-dozen scoreless frames. He walked one batter in the sixth inning, but catcher Oscar Hernández caught the runner trying to steal second base to negate the effect of the walk. Jared Miller and Joey Krehbiel combined for five strikeouts over the seventh and eighth innings, and Gabriel Moya closed the door on the BayBears with a run-free ninth inning.
The Generals will go for their fourth straight win on Saturday, sending left-hander Josh Taylor (3-1, 2.42 ERA) against Mobile right-hander Jordan Kipper (2-1, 1.74 ERA).
