PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 8th through May 14th.

Erie SeaWolves outfielder Mike Gerber has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 8th-May 14th. The 24-year old hit .379 (11-for-29) with one double, three home runs, six RBIs, four runs scored, one walk, and a .724 slugging percentage in seven games for the SeaWolves last week. Gerber, who is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, reached base at least once in six of the seven games he played in last week and had multiple hits in four games, including going 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs in Erie's 7-1 win at Hartford on Thursday night. The 6'0", 190 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in home runs (3) and total bases (21) last week and tied for the league lead in hits (11). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in slugging percentage (.724-3rd), RBIs (6-tied 3rd), extra-base hits (4-tied 4th), and OPS (1.111-7th). Gerber is now hitting .317 with five homers, 24 runs scored, and 17 RBIs in 34 games for the SeaWolves this season. Mike, who is rated by MLB.com as the seventh best prospect in the Detroit organization, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 15th round of the 2014 draft after batting .274 with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs during his senior season Creighton University.

Drew Anderson, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Reading Fightin Phils, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 8th-May 14th. The 6'3", 185 lb. hurler started two games for the Fightins last week and had a record of 1-0 with 17 strikeouts and a 1.29 ERA. Anderson, who is a native of Reno, Nevada, made his first start of the week on Monday against the visiting Bowie Baysox, and gave up one run on three hits over seven innings to earn the win in Reading's 2-1 victory. He struck out 10 batters and did not issue a walk while improving his record to 3-0 on the season. Drew made his second start on Sunday against the visiting Portland Sea Dogs and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Reading's 2-1 victory. The lone hit he allowed was a solo home run with one out in the seventh inning, and he finished with seven strikeouts without allowing a walk. The 23-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (17) last week and tied for the league lead in innings pitched (14.0). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in WHIP (0.29-2nd), wins (1-tied 3rd), and batting average against (.087-4th). Drew was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 21st round of the 2012 draft out of Galena High School in Reno, Nevada.
