San Jose, CA – The San Jose Giants earned the First-Half North Division pennant, defeating Rancho Cucamonga by a final of 11-4 on Thursday night at Excite Ballpark.

San Jose rallied from an early 3-0 deficit and scored 11 of the next 12 runs to win the North Division First-Half pennant for the first time since 2013.

Rancho scored three runs in the first inning against Giants’ starter Manuel Mercedes, but did very little the rest of the way.

Quakes’ starter Jared Karros (1-2) gave up two in the first, one in the third and a decisive two-run blast to Thomas Gavello in the fourth, as San Jose took the lead for good at 5-3.

San Jose reliever Sam Delaplane pitched two scoreless innings for the Giants to get the win.

The Quakes (34-26) now have a magic number of three over both Lake Elsinore and Inland Empire, with just six games to play in the first half. Rancho will send Chris Campos (5-3) to the mound on Friday, as he’ll take on lefty Reggie Crawford (0-0) at 7pm.

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, June 20 for a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can pledge to recycle 10 CRV-eligible bottles and cans. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
