WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 3, 2017) - Former Dash pitcher Brad Goldberg, who spent parts of three seasons in the Triad, has earned his first promotion to the Major Leagues, the Chicago White Sox announced on Saturday. Goldberg is the 351st Winston-Salem alumnus to make it to The Show and the 43rd member to have donned the Dash purple since the nickname change in 2009.
Goldberg was quickly elevated to the High-A level during his first professional season, making a combined 14 appearances for rookie-level Great Falls and Low-A Kannapolis before being promoted to Winston-Salem on August 24, 2013.

The Cleveland, Ohio, native would spend the next two seasons exclusively in Winston-Salem, toeing the rubber a combined 74 times (seven starts) while posting a 5-8 record and a 4.25 earned run average. The Ohio State product improved drastically in 2015, snapping off a 2.97 mark in 39 relief outings while collecting 11 saves in 12 tries as part of the Dash's latest playoff surge.

A 10th-round selection by the White Sox in 2013, Goldberg continued his rise in the system in 2016, making the jump to Double-A Birmingham for the first time in his career. Goldberg did not last in Alabama very long, as the right-hander climbed to Triple-A Charlotte about two weeks into the 2016 season. The promotion proved worthy, as Goldberg snagged his first Midseason All-Star nod with the Knights in 2016 after sporting a 2.23 ERA in 27 first-half relief outings.
Prior to the start of his fifth professional season, Goldberg received the honor to represent his country by playing for Team Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. During Israel's fantastic run in the WBC, Goldberg appeared in two contests, tossing two innings and giving up just two hits while striking out a pair.
The 27-year-old continued his dominance in 2017 at Triple-A, boasting a 2-1 record with a 1.99 ERA in 17 games before his promotion to Chicago. Goldberg has hurled 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings in his last eight trips out of the Charlotte bullpen.
Goldberg is the third Winston-Salem alumnus to complete his rise to the big leagues in 2017. Former Dash outfielders Jacob May and Adam Engel have enjoyed their first stints in Chicago this season.
