The International League announced today that Rochester outfielder Zack Granite has been named the League's Player of the Month for June. Along with winners from other leagues, Granite will be presented with an award from Minor League Baseball in recognition of his performance last month.

The hottest bat in the International League during the month of June belonged to Rochester's All-Star outfielder Zack Granite, who paced the circuit with a .470 batting average, 55 hits, 16 extra-base hits, 23 runs scored, 78 total bases, and a .527 on-base percentage.

He failed to get a hit in just one of the 29 games in which he played in June, producing multiple hits on twenty occasions. His 17-game hitting streak to open the month was the longest for a member of the Red Wings since 2010, and he concluded June having reached safely in 29 straight games. After entering last month with a .237 batting average, Granite heads into July hitting .367 for the season, over fifty points higher than any other qualifying batter in the League. He also owns the circuit's top on-base percentage (.419).
Here's how Granite stacked up across all of Minor League Baseball in June:
Average: .470 (1st)
Runs: 23 (T-6th)
Hits: 55 (1st)
XBH: 16 (T-9th)
TB: 78 (2nd)
Doubles: 11 (T-5th)
OBP: .527 (1st)
OPS: 1.193 (4th)
He is the first member of the Red Wings to be honored as the International League Player of the Month since Chris Colabello in June of 2013. The 24-year-old is in his fifth season as a professional player after being selected by Minnesota in the 14th round of the 2013 draft. This is his first year playing above the Double-A level. He has yet to make his Major League debut. Granite is a native of Staten Island, New York.
