Grant Watson Named California League Pitcher of the Week

San Jose, CA- San Jose Giants left-handed-pitcher, Grant Watson , has been named California League Pitcher of the Week for his dazzling six-inning relief appearance on July 12, 2017. Watson, who came out of the bullpen to start the fourth inning, threw six scoreless frames and struck out four Rancho Cucamonga Quakes while only allowing one hit on 86 pitches. The southpaw retired 17 of the 20 batters he faced including 12 in a row at one point.
Over his last three appearances (two starts), Watson has pitched 18 2/3 innings with just two runs allowed for a sparkling 0.96 ERA. On the season, he owns a 3.69 ERA in six outings (five starts). One of Watson's keys thus far has been limiting the long-ball as he has only surrendered one home-run on the season. Watson has dominated lefties (opponents hitting just .220 against him) and has shined on the road to the tune of a 1.59 ERA. 
The UCLA product was drafted in the 15^th round by the San Francisco Giants in 2015. Watson is the first San Jose Giant to win California League Pitcher of the Week this year.
