Carlos Sano tossed six scoreless innings while Brandon Van Horn and Johneshwy Fargas each homered in a 2-0 Giants victory over the Modesto Nuts on Monday afternoon at Municipal Stadium that closed out the 2018 season. San Jose finished the year with a 59-81 overall record.

San Jose held to four hits in loss

Modesto's Darren McCaughan and Reggie McClain combined on a four-hit shutout Sunday afternoon in a 7-0 Nuts victory over the San Jose Giants at Municipal Stadium. With the loss, San Jose has dropped two out of the first three games in the series. The Giants (58-81) conclude the 2018 season on Monday.

Johneshwy Fargas hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the San Jose Giants to a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Modesto Nuts on Saturday evening at Municipal Stadium. With the Giants trailing by three runs and down to their final strike, Fargas launched a towering drive down the left field line for the walk-off slam. San Jose (58-80) overcame a five-run deficit in the contest to snap their four-game losing streak and eliminate Modesto from playoff contention.

San Jose drops series opener to Modesto

Modesto's Scott Boches tossed six strong innings with only one run allowed in his California League debut as the Nuts earned a 3-1 series-opening victory over the Giants on Friday evening at Municipal Stadium. With the defeat, San Jose (57-80) reached 80 losses overall for the first time since the 2003 season. The Giants have now dropped the first four games of their final homestand of the season.

Jacob Heyward hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th before Peter Lannoo stranded the potential tying run at third base in the bottom of the inning to propel San Jose to the victory. With the win, the Giants (57-76) avoided the sweep and snapped a four-game losing streak.

Giants Drop Third Straight To Modesto

San Jose eliminated from playoff contention following 7-5 loss

The San Jose Giants were unable to hold a four-run lead on Sunday night in a 7-5 loss to the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field. Modesto's Evan White delivered a game-tying two-RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh before scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch as the Nuts posted their third straight victory over the Giants to open the series. The loss was San Jose's fourth in a row overall and officially eliminated the Giants (56-76 overall, 22-40 second half) from playoff contention.
