As the San Jose Giants President and CEO, Daniel Orum oversees the club's business strategy and all aspects of the minor league operation, including stadium operations, marketing, sales, sponsorship, finance, customer service and player services. He works closely with the board of directors and executive staff to help grow San Jose's status as a perennial postseason contender and to provide top level customer service experience for San Jose Giants fans. Orum also serves as the primary liaison with the San Francisco Giants Major League club.
Orum is an accomplished digital media executive who most recently served as president of AFAR Media in San Francisco where he oversaw all operational aspects of the company's travel media business. Prior to joining AFAR Media, Orum worked with Gamepro Media beginning as a senior vice president of business development and consumer marketing before serving as president and CEO of the company. Under his leadership, Gamepro Media grew their online network from one million unique monthly users to 14 million unique users while he also negotiated a multi-million dollar partnership with BestBuy to develop, distribute and sell a special edition of Gamepro magazine as the exclusive video game magazine in BestBuy stores.
Orum has also served as president of Internet operations for Oxygen Media where he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's Internet business. With Oxygen Media, Orum managed successful strategic partnerships with America Online, Microsoft and Oprah Winfrey's HARPO Productions. Orum's other senior management level experience includes a stint as president and COO of Thrive Partners/AOL Time, an AOL/Time, Inc. Joint Venture, general manager of interactive publishing of America Online, president of Macworld CD Ventures and vice president of marketing/circulation of International Data Group/Macworld Communications.
Orum is a former professional basketball player spending two years with the Basket Club Franconville in France. Following his playing career, he consulted in the launch and consumer marketing of several National Football League based fan magazines and also served as director of publications for the Oakland A's Baseball Club. Orum holds a Kinesiology degree from UC Davis and a Masters degree in Kinesiology from Chico State.
