MIDLAND, Mich. – The Great Lakes Loons (33-23, 69-51) broke a 2-2 tie on a Mitch Myers run-scoring throwing error in the sixth inning, going on to defeat the Lansing Lugnuts (24-32, 53-67), 7-2, on Thursday night at Dow Diamond.

Trailing 2-0 entering the third inning, Daniel Bucciero lined an RBI double and Breyson Guedez followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the score against Loons starter Brooks Auger.

Bucciero’s double was Lansing’s only hit in the game; the Nuts were out-hit 11-1.

Despite the hit disparity, the game remained tied until the sixth, after Lansing starter Samuel Dutton (5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K) departed the game. With two outs, Eduardo Guerrero and Mairo Martinus connected on consecutive singles to put Loons at the corners. Myers wheeled toward first on a pickoff move, but accidentally lobbed the ball over the head of first baseman Dylan Fien to bring in Guerrero for a 3-2 Great Lakes lead.

The Loons then tallied two runs in the seventh off Luis Carrasco, thanks to a Jaron Elkins sac fly and Nico Perez RBI single, and two more in the eighth off Gerlin Rosario, thanks to a Chuck Davalan RBI groundout and a Naylor throwing error, to finish off the scoring.

The Nuts drew eight walks in the loss, including two apiece from 7-8-9 hitters Naylor, Tanner Marsh and Gunner Gouldsmith. Jake Reinisch (0-for-3, walk) extended his on-base streak to 36 games, while Bucciero (1-for-5) extended his own streak to 23 games.

Lansing turns to right-hander Jose Dicochea for the fourth game of the six-game set, taking on Loons right-hander Cam Leiter at 7:05 p.m. Friday.

The Nuts play the Loons through Sunday in their final road series of the season, returning to JacksonⓇ Field™ from September 1-6 to host the San Diego Padres-affiliate Fort Wayne TinCaps in the last series of 2026.
