GreenJackets and Giants Release 2018 Roster

First Home Game for GreenJackets will be April 12th at SRP Park

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, in conjunction with their MLB-affiliate the San Francisco Giants, have released their Opening Day roster for the 2018 season. The GreenJackets will be welcoming many new faces to the team to go along with their new home at SRP Park for their Inaugural Season.

The GreenJackets will be welcoming many new faces to the team to go along with their new home at SRP Park for their Inaugural Season. Four of the top 30 prospects for the Giants will be on the 2018 team.

Outfielder Heliot Ramos, the Giants #1 overall prospect according to MLB.com, will be starting his first full season of professional baseball with the GreenJackets. He was the #19 overall pick in the 2017 Draft. With the Arizona League Giants (AZL-Giants), Ramos hit .348 with 27 RBI and 6 HR in 35 games. He was named to the AZL Post-Season All-Star team in 2017. He was also named a 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game First Team All-American. Ramos holds the distinction of being the highest-drafted player out of Puerto Rico since the 2012 draft when Carlos Correa was the first-overall pick.
Third Basemen, Jacob Gonzalez, was the Giants #2 selection in the 2017 Draft. He is the 11th ranked prospect for the Giants, according to MLB.com. With the AZL-Giants, Gonzalez hit .339 with 21 RBI in 46 games. He was named to the AZL Post-Season All-Star team in 2018. He was also named a 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game First Team All-American. Gonzalez is the son of former Major League baseball player Luis Gonzalez.
Starting Pitcher, Garrett Cave, was the Giants #4 selection in the 2017 Draft. He is the 21st ranked prospect for the Giants, according to MLB.com. Last season for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, he had a 5.85 ERA with 20 innings pitched. Cave was drafted in 2014 by the New York Yankees, but did not sign. He attended the University of Tampa.
Outfielder, Malique Ziegler, was the Giants #22 selection in the 2016 draft. He is the 30th ranked prospect for the Giants, according to MLB.com. With the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, he batted .240 with 24 RBI in 64 games. Zeigler was named to the Mid-Season All-Star team in 2017 with the Volcanoes. He was also rated as the Giants fastest minor league baserunner by Baseball America in 2018.
There will be two GreenJackets returning from the 2017 roster. Outfielder Jean Angomas, who batted .292 with 22 RBI in 70 games for the GreenJackets. Also returning is Ryan Kirby who batted .220 in 23 games for the GreenJackets in 2017.
