Grizzlies hold Rainiers to one hit in 1-0 victory

The Fresno Grizzlies (73-60) held the Tacoma Rainiers (65-68) to just one hit in a 1-0 victory on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park. It was the seventh shutout of the season for the Grizzlies and their fifth at home. Fresno is now 18-11 in one-run games, 11-4 at home. Carlos

The Fresno Grizzlies (73-60) held the Tacoma Rainiers (65-68) to just one hit in a 1-0 victory on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park. It was the seventh shutout of the season for the Grizzlies and their fifth at home. Fresno is now 18-11 in one-run games, 11-4 at home. Carlos Correa went 1-3 with a base hit in his second MLB rehab appearance and was involved in two putouts through five innings.
Rogelio Armenteros (7-1) tossed a no-hitter through 7.1 scoreless innings with just one walk and eight strikeouts in his ninth start of the season. He ended up throwing 102 pitches and allowed one hit through a season-high eight innings for the win. It was the second straight start that Armenteros did not allow a hit through at least 6.2 innings. He struck out nine while walking two and allowing one hit through seven innings on August 18 against Las Vegas. Armenteros has 68 strikeouts in his first 53.1 innings pitched at the Triple-A level.
The Grizzlies scored their lone run in the opening frame and were held to nine hits for the remainder of the contest. A.J. Reed recorded his team-leading 94th RBI with a double to right center that scored Tony Kemp who led off the game with a single. Kemp went 2-for-4 for his 52nd multi-hit game of the season. He has multiple hits in 46 percent of his 113 games played.
Jumbo Díaz picked up his third save of the season for the Grizzlies in just as many opportunities with a three up, three down ninth with a strikeout. For the Rainiers, starter Andrew Moore (3-4) suffered the loss through four innings. He allowed the one run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  
Fresno will play their final home game of 2017 on Sunday, the series finale against the Rainiers. Probable starters are RHP Sam Gaviglio (3-5, 3.55) for Tacoma and RHP Trent Thornton (6-4, 5.44) for the Grizzlies. First pitch at Chukchansi Park is set for 5:05 p.m.
