In Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, the Fresno Grizzlies (52-37) beat the Las Vegas 51s (42-48) 2-1 at Chukchansi Park. Fresno starter Brock Dykxhoorn (3-1) earned the win. He provided five and two-thirds innings, giving up three hits, one run (earned) while punching out seven. In 45 and two-thirds Triple-A frames (eighth start), he has walked six batters and fanned 47.
On the other hand, Las Vegas starter Harol Gonzalez (0-1) suffered the loss in his Triple-A debut. He went six innings, scattering four hits, two runs (earned), walking a pair and whiffing one.
A leadoff homer by Matthew den Dekker gave the 51s a 1-0 advantage. It was his 11th clout of the season and his second in as many nights.
AJ Reed regained a 2-1 Grizzlies lead with a two-run single to center in the bottom of the third. It was his 71st and 72nd RBI of the season, tops in Triple-A.
That would be enough for Brendan McCurry to finish off a Fresno win. He secured his 10th save of the year.
With the victory, the Grizzlies improved to 5-0 in the fifth game of a series and won their 13th set in 22 chances.
Both teams enjoy four days off as the All Star Break approaches. The teams will resume play on Thursday night.
