Montgomery, Ala. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, homered their way past the Montgomery Biscuits on Friday, gaining a series lead with a 3-2 victory at Riverwalk Stadium.

The victory for Jackson (26-20) draws them within 2.5 games of Montgomery (29-18), who lost for just the 7th time in 23 home games this season.
The Generals lit the first fuse of the game, with Ryan Grotjohn tagging Montgomery's Sam McWilliams (3-2, 3.10 ERA) for a lead-off homer in the top of the first. Grotjohn would play a big role in Jackson's success on the night, contributing a sacrifice fly in the third inning to bring home Galli Cribbs and tie the score at 2-2 at the time. The final tally of the night for Jackson came from Jazz Chisholm, who hit his first homer since May 14 with a lead-off blast against McWilliams in the seventh inning. Cribbs was the only General with multiple hits on Friday night. Jackson came away victorious despite an 0-for-4 mark with runners in scoring position.
Starting against McWilliams - a former Diamondbacks prospect - ex-teammate Riley Smith delivered another impressive effort, allowing just two runs in five and two thirds innings of work. Smith didn't walk a batter while striking out three, helping his team to a victory for the third straight outing. His only hiccup came in the second inning, when he misfired on a throw to third base with men on first and second, allowing a run to score on the error and another on a subsequent sacrifice fly. Lucas Luetge (4-1, 1.17 ERA) earned the win with one and one third innings of work, while Junior Garcia earned his first hold at Double-A and Matt Brill (S, 3) locked down the ninth for his third save.
