PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of April 30th through May 6th.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 30th-May 6th. It is the second time this season he has won the award, as he was previously the Player of the Week for the period of April 5th-15th. The 19-year old hit .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, seven runs scored, five RBIs, three walks, and a .889 slugging percentage in five games last week. Guerrero Jr., who is a native of Montreal, Canada, reached base at least twice in all five games he played in last week and had multiple hits in four of those games. Guerrero Jr. currently has an 11 game hitting streak and is leading the league with a .398 batting average and 30 RBIs in 24 games this season. The 6'1", 200 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in slugging percentage (.889) and OPS (1.434) last week and tied for the lead in triples (1). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in batting average (.500-tied 2nd), on-base percentage (.545-tied 2nd), runs scored (7-tied 3rd), hits (9-tied 7th), extra-base hits (4-tied 7th), and total bases (16-tied 8th). Vladimir, who is rated by MLB.com as the top prospect in the Toronto organization and the third best prospect in all of Minor League Baseball, was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an International Free Agent on July 2, 2015.

Beau Burrows, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Erie SeaWolves, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 30th-May 6th. The 6'2", 200 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the SeaWolves last week and had a record of 2-0 with 11 strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA. Burrows, who is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, made his first start of the week on Monday night against the visiting Bowie Baysox and threw six strong innings in Erie's 6-2 victory. He scattered seven hits while striking out six batters and walking one over six innings of work to earn the win. Beau made his second appearance of the week on Saturday at Altoona in the opening game of a doubleheader and fired six shutout innings to lead Erie to a 2-0 win. He struck out five batters and walked two while giving up just two hits over six innings. The 21-year old tied for the league lead in wins (2) last week and also ranked among the weekly leaders in innings pitched (12.0-tied 2nd), strikeouts (11-4th), and ERA (1.50-tied 10th). Beau, who is rated by MLB.com as the fourth best prospect in the Detroit organization, was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the 2015 draft with the 22nd overall pick out of Weatherford High School in Texas.
