PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 30th through August 5th.

Akron RubberDucks infielder/outfielder Sam Haggerty has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 30th-August 5th. The 24-year old batted .421 (8-for-19) with one double, three triples, one home run, five RBIs, seven runs scored, two stolen bases, six walks, and a .947 slugging percentage in six games last week. Haggerty, who is a native of Phoenix, Arizona, had at least one hit in all six games he played in last week and reached base multiple times in five of those six games, including going 2-for-4 with a triple, one walk, three runs scored, and one RBI in a 9-8 win at Altoona on Saturday night. The 5'11", 175 lb. slugger led all Eastern League batters in slugging percentage (.947), OPS (1.486), and triples (3) last week and tied for the league lead in runs scored (7) and extra-base hits (5). He also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in total bases (18-2nd), on-base percentage (.538-2nd), batting average (.421-4th), stolen bases (2-tied 4th), hits (8-tied 6th), and RBIs (5-tied 8th). Sam, who is hitting .249 with 31 RBIs, 34 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases in 62 games for the RubberDucks this season, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 24th round of the 2015 draft out of the University of New Mexico.

Kyle Hart, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Portland Sea Dogs, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 30th-August 5th. The 6'5", 175 lb. hurler started one game for the Sea Dogs last week and had a record of 1-0 with five strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Hart, who is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, made his lone start of the week on Thursday afternoon in the second game of a doubleheader against the visiting Erie SeaWolves and tossed a complete game in Portland's 5-0 victory. He retired the final 11 batters he faced and gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out five batters over his seven innings of work. The 25-year old was the only pitcher in the Eastern League to pitch a shutout or a complete game last week and he also led all Eastern League pitchers in batting average against (.087) and tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00) and wins (1). He also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in WHIP (0.57-3rd). Kyle, who has a record of 7-7 with 79 strikeouts and a 3.78 ERA in 19 starts for the Sea Dogs this season, was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 19th round of the 2016 draft after putting together a record of 10-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 15 starts during his senior season at Indiana University.
