Bader now 48th Spike to bigs after Cards debut
Harrison Bader , who made a splash in his short time with the State College Spikes in 2015, made his major league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. Bader became the 48th former Spikes player to reach the MLB ranks on the Road to the Show, presented by HRI,
Bader sparked the Cardinals with a leadoff double in the bottom of the ninth, then raced in to scored the deciding run on
Spikes fans felt Bader's impact as soon as he joined the pros. The Cardinals made Bader their third-round draft choice in 2015 out of the University of Florida, and he swatted two home runs in his first professional game at Staten Island on June 30 of that year.
Although he spent just a week in State College before moving up the Cardinals' minor league ladder, Bader made his mark. The former Gator produced a .379 average, two doubles, two homers and four runs batted in over seven games with the Spikes.
