(Portland, ME) - The Reading Fightin Phils (19-28) lost the first game at Hadlock Field this season as the Portland Sea Dogs (17-31) won 6-2 on Sunday afternoon. Sea Dogs starter Kyle Hart (3-3) pitched a season-high eight innings while allowing only one run.
The Sea Dogs scored two runs off Fightin Phils starter José Taveras (0-1) in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Josh Ockimey and Josh Tobias both hit RBI singles in the inning. The Fightins answered back in the top of the third inning as Brandon Bednar scored on a fielder's choice to cut Portland's lead to 2-1.
Philadelphia native Josh Ockimey hit a RBI single off Tommy Bergjans in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Sea Dogs a 3-1 lead. The Sea Dogs got another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, this time off Alexis Rivero as Jeremy Rivera scored on a wild pitch.
Cornelius Randolph hit a RBI single in the top of the eighth inning off Hart to bring the Fightins within two runs. Portland scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 6-2 lead against Seth McGarry . Sea Dogs reliever Jordan Weems pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
