SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Ryan Hissey 's go-ahead two-run single ignited a four-run eighth-inning rally, and the Lansing Lugnuts (22-18) took three of four games at Four Winds Field with a 5-3 win over the South Bend Cubs (26-16).

Trailing 2-1 entering the eighth, Bo Bichette reached on a fielding error by South Bend shortstop Isaac Paredes. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. followed with a laser of a double to left field off reliever Chad Hockin(Loss, 0-1).

The Cubs brought in southpaw Wyatt Short to face the left-handed hitting Hissey. Hissey jumped on the first pitch he saw, lacing a single to right field to bring in both Bichette and Guerrero. An RBI double from Christian Williams and an RBI single from J.B. Woodman followed, lifting the Lugnuts to a 5-2 lead.

Lansing starter Andy Ravel fired six innings, allowing two runs and striking out five. The Lugnuts' bullpen took over from there. Kirby Snead (Win, 2-1) faced the minimum in the seventh, Nick Hartman allowed an unearned run in the eighth, and Zach Jackson (Save, 1) pitched around a walk in the ninth.

Williams (3-for-4, run, two doubles, two RBIs) and Hissey (2-for-4, two runs, two RBIs, walk) led the Lugnuts offense. Yeltsin Gudino , though, was hitless in four at-bats, ending his on-base streak at 20 games.

The Lugnuts open an eight-game homestand Monday with a 7:05 p.m. opener against the Lake County Captains. Left-hander Tayler Saucedo (1-1, 6.00) receives the start on a Dog Days of Summer with all dogs welcome to the ballpark.
