Home runs hurt BayBears in loss to Blue Wahoos

BayBears cut early five-run deficit to one but come up short

MOBILE, Ala. (August 9, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were defeated 8-5 by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.After falling behind 5-0 in the second inning, the BayBears (43-72 overall, 16-31 second half) scored the next four runs.

MOBILE, Ala. (August 9, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were defeated 8-5 by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
After falling behind 5-0 in the second inning, the BayBears (43-72 overall, 16-31 second half) scored the next four runs. Brendon Sanger hit an RBI double in the second, and Jahmai Jones , Brandon Marsh , and Jack Kruger all plated runs in the fourth.
However, Pensacola (62-55, 24-23) used five home runs to control the lead from start to finish. Alex Kirilloff, Trevor Larnack, and Ryan Costello went deep in the first. Mark Contreras added another home run against Andrew Wantz (0-4), and Royce Lewis hit his first Double-A home run in the sixth.
The BayBears left a season-high 15 runners on base. Mobile loaded the bases loaded twice and sent the tying run to the plate in the final frame.
The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Pensacola Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Oliver Ortega (0-1, 54.00 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Gabriel Moya (0-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Blue Wahoos.
