CORPUS CHRISTI - Lefty Cionel Pérez, Ralph Garza and Erasmo Pinales held the Travelers to five hits, and the Hooks scored five times in the third inning Monday night as Corpus Christi rolled to a 9-0 triumph at Whataburger Field.
Nick Tanielu got the scoring started with a two-run shot to left field in the first inning.
The Hooks sent 10 men to the plate in the third, knocking Arkansas lefty out of the game. Carmen Benedetti highlighted the five-hit frame with a two-run double into the right-field corner.

Benedetti's second two-bagger of the night was notched in the sixth, and it scored Yordan Alvarez, who doubled to begin the inning.
Randy César's two-out RBI single in the eighth handed the Hooks their ninth marker of the night.
Perez made 80 pitches through four innings of work. He struck out six against three hits and three walks.
Garza retired 12 of the 15 men he faced, throwing 43 of 62 pitches for strikes. The New Braunfels native, who fanned six Monday night, has hurled 7.2 shutout for a pair of wins on the homestand.
Erasmo Pinales penned a 1-2-3 ninth to finish Corpus Christi's first shutout of the year.
Josh James makes the start Tuesday night as the Hooks aim for a sweep.
