SAN ANTONIO - Kyle Smith fashioned five strong innings Tuesday night as the Hooks, who netted solo home runs from Jon Singleton and J.D. Davis, beat San Antonio, 4-1, at Wolff Stadium.
Corpus Christi (18-20) has won three of its last four games.

The lone Missions (22-16) marker came in the third. Luis Urías, who went 4-for-5 on the night, opened with a base hit up the middle. Urias moved to second on a ground ball and scored via a two-out single by Nick Torres.
Smith (1-1), who retired the final seven men he faced, struck out four and did not issue a walk. The 24-year-old right-hander has permitted only three runs in his last four assignments, spanning 20 innings.
With two away in the fourth, Singleton belted his third home run in the last four games. Two innings later, Davis, now tied for second in the Texas League with eight long balls, went deep to right field for a 2-1 Hooks edge.
Enyel De Los Santos held the visitors to three hits and two walks in seven innings. De Los Santos (2-1) struck out seven.
Lefty Carlos Hiraldo struck out two in a perfect sixth and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh.
Andrew Thome preserved the one-run lead in the eighth by side-stepping a Ty France double.
Corpus Christi added two insurance runs against Brad Wieck in the ninth. Garrett Stubbs coaxed a lead-off walk and scored from first on Davis' double into the left-field corner. Later in the frame, Ramón Laureano snuck an RBI single past the drawn-in infield and into right.
Thome worked around a Urias base hit in the ninth to nail down his first Double-A save.
The Missions out-hit the Hooks 10-5, but nine of those knocks were singles.
Drew Ferguson opened the contest with an infield single, extending his hit streak to 13.
Corpus Christi looks to pull ahead in the series Wednesday night with lefty Kent Emanuel on the hill. San Antonio is slated to pitch Brett Kennedy.
