CORPUS CHRISTI - Myles Straw went 5-for-5 with three runs scored, and Alex De Goti belted a late three-run dinger as the Hooks rolled to a 7-2 triumph before 5,117 fans at Whataburger Field.
Framber Valdez also turned in a terrific start. After allowing two markers in the first, Valdez retired 15 of the final 18 men he faced, striking out six.

The Hooks sent six men to bat in the first against Logan Bawcom. Ryne Birk delivered a sac fly into right field for the first Corpus Christi run.
In the third, a Birk bouncer chased Straw home from third base, leveling the score at 2.
Corpus Christi pulled ahead in the fifth with a two-out RBI single by Randy César.
Cesar, batting .647 (11-for-17) in his last four assignments, extended his hit streak to a Texas League best 19 games. The reigning Texas League Player of the Week has hit safely in 29 of his last 31 contests.
Facing Nolan Long in the seventh, Straw smoked a double down the right-field line, and then scored on a two-out knock of the bat off Taylor Jones.
De Goti salted the game in the eighth with a three-run home run to left field off Chad Girodo.
Straw wrapped up his second five-hit performance of the year with a two-bagger in the eighth.
Cesar (.367) and Straw (.362) own the top two batting averages in the Texas League.
The Hooks and Drillers wrap up the series with a rubber match Sunday evening. Memorial Day postgame fireworks are presented by Hilliard Martinez Gonzales. Americana singer-songwriter Rob Baird is also set to perform an acoustic show in the Cheniere Champions Club. First pitch 6:05 and gates open at 5:05.
