Hot Rods hold Lugs to one hit in 7-3 loss

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Moises Gomez and Trey Hair homered, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods (34-24, 81-46) held the Lansing Lugnuts (32-26, 75-53) to one hit - Vinny Capra 's single opening the game - in a 7-3 victory on Tuesday night at Bowling Green Ballpark.Two pitches into the game,

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Moises Gomez and Trey Hair homered, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods (34-24, 81-46) held the Lansing Lugnuts (32-26, 75-53) to one hit - Vinny Capra 's single opening the game - in a 7-3 victory on Tuesday night at Bowling Green Ballpark.

Two pitches into the game, Capra pulled a Resly Linares delivery fair down the third-base line for a leadoff single.

Linares (Win, 7-3) responded by setting down the next 17 hitters in a row, and Gomez and the Hot Rods offense scored five runs (three earned) in five innings against Lugnuts starter
Graham Spraker (Loss, 4-3).

The Hot Rods cruised into the seventh inning with their 5-0 lead, but Linares walked two straight batters and departing. Reliever Andrew Gist walked Chavez Young to load the bases, and Ryan Noda sent a sizzler through first baseman Devin Davis to score a pair. Brandon Grudzielanek followed with an RBI grounder, bringing the Lugnuts within 5-3.

But Hair slugged a two-run homer off
Andrew Deramo in the bottom of the seventh, rebuilding the Hot Rods lead, and Simon Rosenblum-Larson set down the final six Lugnuts batters in order to secure the victory for the hosts.

Lansing right-hander Kyle Weatherly (3.34 ERA) starts the middle affair in the three-game series, opposed by Hot Rods right-hander Tobias Myers (3.43) at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday.
