The Hudson Valley Renegades have been the Short Season New York-Penn League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays since 1996.
 
"We are thrilled to continue the partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays," said Steve Gliner, President of the Hudson Valley Renegades. "The Rays front office, its field staff and players have provided our fans with outstanding baseball for 22 years at Dutchess Stadium." Mitch Lukevics, the Director of Minor League Operations for the Tampa Bay Rays added, "The Tampa Bay Rays are proud of their long-standing relationship with the Hudson Valley Renegades, since 1996 we have been teammates and with our PDC extension, we look forward to the years ahead."
Since the signing of the Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Tampa Bay Rays in 1996, the Hudson Valley Renegades have won the New York-Penn League Championship three times. In 1999, 2012 and most recently this past year in 2017 after sweeping the Vermont Lake Monsters in the New York-Penn League finals.
