Jackson, Tenn. - The Generals dropped a tough one Saturday night, losing to Mississippi 4-3 in front of the largest crowd this season at The Ballpark at Jackson. A grand total of 6,224 were in attendance on Star Wars Night to see a third-straight one-run game in the team's series versus the Mississippi Braves.
Mississippi (27-28) got a huge night from third baseman Travis Demeritte, who provided almost all of the team's offense. It started in the first inning, when he hit the first of two solo home runs off of Josh Taylor (4-4, 4.26) to put the visitors on top 1-0.

Jackson (29-26) answered right back, rallying with two outs in the last of the first against Luiz Gohara. After a Kevin Cron single, Dawel Lugo drove in the tying run with a triple to right-center field. Lugo would later score on a passed ball to make it 2-1 in favor of the Generals.
Demeritte then took over the game. He tied things up in the fourth inning with another home run before coming through again in the sixth. With two outs and a man on third, he smashed a triple to right-center field to put Mississippi on top. He'd then score on a Joey Meneses single to make it 4-2. Demeritte finished the night with 12 total bases on two homers, a triple and a walk.
The Generals got back in the game in the next half-inning. After a leadoff triple from Kelly Dugan, Oscar Hernández got Jackson within a run on a single to left field. That was as close as the team would get, though. Jackson stranded 11 men on base in the contest, and went 1-for-10 with men in scoring position.
Jason Hursh (S, 4) closed things out for Mississippi with two scoreless innings. He allowed the tying run to reach base in the eighth and ninth, but managed to hold on. Jesse Biddle (2-2, 2.79) got the win for the Braves, pitching 2.2 scoreless frames in relief of Gohara.
