PAPILLION, NE - John Andreoli ripped a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh inning to lift the Iowa Cubs (66-70) to a 5-4 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers (67-71), Friday at Werner Park. One run has decided each of Iowa's last five games.

Iowa trailed 4-1 until the sixth when two Storm Chaser errors helped the I-Cubs to three runs, two earned. Stephen Bruno and Taylor Davis got into scoring position on a respective single and double, setting up RBI opportunities for Jacob Hannemann and Chris Dominguez. Hannemann did his part with a sacrifice fly and Dominguez brought in the second run with a ground ball. An error on the play pushed Dominguez to second. He would later score on a dropped fly ball to left.
The three-run sixth tied the game and the I-Cubs wasted no time taking the lead. Andreoli's 13th home run of the season opened the seventh inning. It was all Iowa needed to capture the win.
Scott Carroll (2-1) took the win, contributing six strong frames with four runs, three earned, allowed. He retired the final seven batters he faced. Iowa's bullpen went unscratched for the third-consecutive game as Jack Leathersich, Pierce Johnson and Matt Carasiti each spun a scoreless inning, with Carasiti walking away with his PCL-leading 21st save.
Bruno homered in the fourth for his ninth long ball of the year. He ended his night 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Davis added a 2-for-3 game with two doubles and a walk.
Iowa and Omaha meet again at Werner Park at 2:05 p.m. tomorrow. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
