Through the Community Fields Project, the Spokane Indians, Les Schwab, and supporting partners have pledged to restore a minimum of one baseball/softball field in the Spokane region each year. This year's selected fields were Lower Lincoln Park in Spokane's South Hill (Wednesday, July 23rd) and Salnave Park in Cheney (Wednesday, June 11th).

Improvements to the fields included: applying Turface to infields, replacing and rebuilding backstops, the addition of new bases and pegs, rebuilding of mounds, cleaning up rocks and glass from the playing surfaces, remeasuring field distances and adding new bases and pegs, and weeding and general cleanup of the surrounding areas.

“We’re the community’s baseball team," said Spokane Indians Senior Vice President Otto Klein. "We want to lead by example, and our moral compass says, ‘give back to our community as much as we can,’ and we do it in a lot of different ways, and our Community Fields Program is a really rewarding one because it’s baseball.”

A special thanks to all of the volunteers that joined us and to our supporting sponsors A to Z Rentals, AAA, BNSF Railway, Bulldog Rooter, Edward Jones, nomnom, Pacific Golf & Turf, Pizza Factory, Inc., SERVPRO, Spokane Parks & Recreation, Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino, TDS Fiber, Wake Up Call, and Windermere Real Estate.
