Iowa Gets Clamped 9-5 Against Worcester

DES MOINES IA. – The Iowa Cubs dropped game five against the Worcester Red Sox for a 9-5 score.

In the fifth game of this week’s series, the WooSox jumped out to a large 9-0 lead over the I-Cubs.

Then, Iowa scored five unanswered runs of its own as the Worcester lead was cut down to 9-5. A wild pitch by the Red Sox scored Kevin Alcantara for the first Iowa run. Then, Hayden Cantrelle drove in a run on a sac fly.

James Triantos plated another run on a fielding error. Moises Ballesteros ripped his 11th homer of the season as the lead cut down to 9-5 but that was not enough to get the win as Worcester took the fifth game of the series.

Right-hander Connor Noland got into trouble early as he finished his night working just 3.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits with just two punchouts.

The Iowa Cubs conclude this week’s series against the Worcester Red Sox on Friday, August 17 and first pitch is at 1:08 p.m. CT.
