DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (41-67) spun a perfect game through 7.1 innings and ended up with a two-hit shutout as they downed the Salt Lake Bees (57-52) 6-0 at Principal Park on Wednesday night.

Alec Mills was the star of the show during the early innings. Mills was able to use the help of the defense and four strikeouts to cruise through the Salt Lake lineup. He was perfect through six innings, retiring 18 of 18 Bees before coming out with a 2-0 lead.
Rob Zastryzny replaced Mills in the seventh and continued the bid for a perfect game before giving up a hit to Jared Walsh with one out in the eighth inning.
Dakota Mekkes finished the game for Iowa with 1.2 innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out one.
Just like the Iowa pitching, the Iowa bats showed up in style. Taylor Davis broke the scoreless game in the fourth inning, hitting a two-run home run to right field for his third of the season.
The team exploded for a four-run seventh inning that included RBI hits from Chris Coghlan, Mark Zagunis, Jason Vosler and Davis. Coghlan, Davis and Vosler all collected two-hit games.
The Iowa Cubs will battle Salt Lake tomorrow at 7:08 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a 2018 Iowa Cubs Team Card Set. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
