Isotopes whammy Grizzlies 10-3 as McMahon drives in five runs

It took 48 days, but the Albuquerque Isotopes finally beat the Fresno Grizzlies 10-3 Sunday afternoon from Isotopes Park. The game resumed play on July 21st (Saturday) after it was suspended on June 3rd due to rain. Both teams continued action in the top of the fourth with two outs.

In the bottom of the first, Garrett Hampson gave the Isotopes a 1-0 lead with a solo shot to left field. The advantage extended to 4-0 in the bottom of the third after an eight-batter inning. A fielder's choice and an error allowed Raimel Tapia to dance home. Then, Mike Tauchman spanked a double to left, plating Hampson. Finally, a Tom Murphy RBI groundout recorded the third run of the frame.
Albuquerque starter Yency Almonte tossed three and two-thirds shutout innings before the game was put on hold. He struck out five and scattered a pair of hits.
The Isotopes expanded the lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Josh Fuentes laced a single to left, knocking in Anthony Bemboom. Then, Ryan McMahon doubled to center, plating a pair.
Myles Straw trimmed the deficit to 7-2 in the top of the sixth. He roped a two-run single to right field, adding Antonio Nunez (single) and Derek Fisher (double).
McMahon lengthened the advantage to 10-2 in the home half of the sixth when he uncorked a three-run shot to dead center.
Nick Tanielu cut the lead to seven in the top of the seventh when he singled up the middle. Garrett Stubbs was the recipient of the run after he doubled to the right-center gap.
With a 10-3 advantage, Harrison Musgrave shut the door on the Grizzlies with two scoreless frames. He followed lefty David Holmberg, who picked up the victory.
Fresno starter Rogelio Armenteros suffered the loss despite hurling a complete game. In eight innings, he was charged with 10 runs (nine earned), on 10 hits, four walks and 11 punchouts.
