Amarillo Sod Poodles (43-52) | Midland RockHounds (47-49)

Midland, Texas — Amarillo took the lead in the top of the eighth but saw Midland plate two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take the series finale 3-2, splitting the last series of the 2021 season between the two clubs.

Scoring Recap: For the sixth straight game, the Amarillo Sod Poodles struck first. After getting hit by a pitch with one out, outfielder Ben DeLuzio used his speed to score from first base on Camden Duzebacks double into center field. Midland countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the same frame. With one out, Soddies starter Drey Jameson struck out his second hitter of the frame, however the wild pitch scurried too far away from Soddies catcher Dominic Miroglio, allowing the batter to reach first. Two singles later, Midland was able to tie the game up at 1-1. The game remained that way headed into the top of the eight despite the Soddies getting at least one hit over the next four innings.Infielder Buddy Kennedy gave Amarillo their lead back with his 10th Double-A homer. The RockHounds lined out for the first out of the ninth before drawing a one-out walk. A pinch runner came into the game and then was able to advance into scoring position on a wild pitch. A single into right-center field tied the game at two runs a piece. A second consecutive single gave the RockHounds runners on first and third. Their third straight single brought home their winning run in walk off fashion.

Poodles Plays: Amarillo starter Drey Jameson had yet another solid start in Double-A. He bookended the series with quality starts after his seven inning, one run allowed effort on Sunday afternoon. Midland then strung together three straight singles to walk off the Sod Poodles.
