Four Dunedin Blue Jays pitchers combined to shutout the Daytona Tortugas tonight in a 4-0 win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. LHP Ryan Borucki  started on the mound for Dunedin, allowing just four hits in his four innings of work. Borucki gave way to RHP Jared Carkuff in the fifth due to a previously established pitch count. Carkuff was excellent in his three innings of relief, striking out a pair and allowing just two hits to pick up his first career Florida State League win. RHP Ryan Cook , who was named Dunedin's April Pitcher of the Month before the game, pitched a clean eighth inning and RHP Andrew Case finished the game with a scoreless ninth.
The Blue Jays jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when DH Max Pentecost and 2B Cavan Biggio hit back-to-back doubles to begin the ballgame. The Jays added two more in the third when 1B Juan Kelly  doubled home Pentecost and C Danny Jansen  who had both walked. Jansen helped the Jays add an insurance run in the seventh inning, knocking in SS Andrew Guillotte  with a safety squeeze bunt.
"I've been really working on getting the ball down the first part of the season. I got the ball down (tonight) and that's what happens when you do what you're supposed to do," Carkuff said about picking up his first win this season after the game. "Our hitters are always going to give us at least four runs. Any win is good, but obviously a shutout is awesome for our pitching staff."
The Blue Jays will be in action again tomorrow night at 6:30 PM at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Dogs will be welcome in the ballpark as part of the team's popular Bark In The Park Promotion to benefit the Dunedin Doggie Rescue.
Of Note
Blue Jays CF D.J. Davis extended his hitting streak to six games with a double in the fourth inning. Davis is hitting .303 over his last ten games.
"I've been focusing on getting the ball up in the zone and laying off bat pitches," Davis said about his recent success after tonight's game.
