The LumberKings were the first team to score. Snappers starter Joe DeMers retired the first five batters he faced - three by way of the strikeout - but then allowed a two out single to J.D. Osborne. Clinton then led from the second inning on, and were unphased by a rain storm that forced a one hour and seven minute delay with two out in the bottom of the fourth.
The rains did bring about the end of the night for LumberKings starter Jake Walters who was followed by Cam Baird.
In the bottom of the sixth, Beloit plated their first run of the night to pull to within one. Baird (1-0) allowed the first batter of the inning to reach on a throwing error by Christopher Torres. Three batters later, Santis Sanchez doubled to right center field for an RBI.
Baird earned the win for Clinton - his first of the year - on 1.1 innings of relief work. He allowed one unearned run on two hits while walking one and striking out two.
The LumberKings scored what proved to be the game's decisive run in the top of the eighth inning. Peyton Burdick drew a one-out walk and eventually scored on a Will Banfield single through the left side of the infield.
