Jordan Diaz Wins Racine MVP Award
BURLINGTON, VT --- Third baseman Jordan Diaz was named the 2019 Tom Racine MVP Award winner in voting by Vermont Lake Monsters fans, the New York-Penn League team and the Burlington Free Press announced.

Diaz finished the season hitting .264 (73-for-277) with 31 runs, 17 doubles, nine homers and 47 RBI in 70 games played for the Lake Monsters. His 47 RBI tied for the NYPL lead and were the most by a Vermont player since 2005 and tied with 1999 Racine MVP Matt Watson for the fifth-most in team history.
The 19-year-old also finished third in the league with 119 total bases, while fourth in hits, tied for fourth in doubles and tied for fifth in home runs. He is also the seventh player in Vermont history to hit at least nine homers in a season.
The Racine MVP award has been sponsored by the Burlington Free Press since 1996 and is named in honor of former Vermont Expos General Manager Tom Racine, who passed away in 1995. Since the award was created, 11 Racine MVP's have gone on to play in the Major Leagues.
