Jumped: Renegades drop series opener 12-6 at Drive

Greenville, S.C. (Aug. 4, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped their series opener to the Greenville Drive 12-6 on Tuesday night at Fluor Field.

This was the first trip for the Renegades to Greenville since the 2023 South Atlantic League Championship Series, and their first regular-season trip to the Drive since April 25-30, 2023.

The Drive had two big innings in the game, scoring four runs in the third and five in the fifth. They did so on a combined three hits in those two innings.

Hudson Valley stole five bases in the game, the eighth time this season the team has stolen five-or-more bases. The Renegades have stolen 185 bases on the season, tied for second-most in a single-season in team history (2023), and are stealing 1.83 bases per game.

Renegades pitchers walked eight batters in the game, including seven before the first out of the bottom of the fifth was recorded.

Eight of Hudson Valley’s nine hits in the game came from the top four batters in the lineup. Core Jackson, Jackson Lovich (2 each) and Kyle West (3) all had multi-hit games.

The Renegades out-hit the Drive in the game 9-7 despite the loss and fell to 39-13 on the season when out-hitting their opponents. The Renegades were 66-15 in 2025 when outhitting their opponents.

The Renegades fell to 12-9 all-time in the regular season against the Drive, and 6-4 at Fluor Field.

LHP Franyer Herrera (3.2 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K) struck out four and allowed six runs on three hits across 3.2 innings.

It was the first time since 6/7 at Frederick that Herrera allowed more than 3 ER in a start, a stretch of seven straight starts. Herrera had allowed 2-or-fewer ER in six of his last seven starts. Herrera’s four walks in the game was also his highest total since 6/7 at Frederick, and tied a season high (set four other times).

Herrera became the third straight Hudson Valley starter to allow six-or-more earned runs, joining Luis Serna (8 ER on 8/1 (G2)) and Allen Facundo (8 ER on 8/2).

Herrera faced the minimum through two innings but allowed four runs in the third and two more in the fourth.

The home run he allowed to Owen Hull in the bottom of the third was his 14^th allowed of the season, establishing a new Renegades record for most home runs allowed in a single season.

1B Kyle West (3-for-5, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB) hit his team-leading 18^th home run of the season in the fourth inning.

West is now in sole possession of third on the Renegades single-season home run list, trailing Dan Grummitt (1999) and Tyler Hardman (2022), each of whom hit 22.

West ranks tied for 9^th with Jace Avina and Josh Breaux on the Renegades career home run list.

West has 67 RBIs on the season, the second-highest total in team history, trailing Tyler Hardman’s 79 in 2022.

This was West’s 23^rd multi-hit game of the season and his seventh three-hit game.

DH Jackson Lovich (2-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB) continued his hot hitting with hits in seven straight games to begin his Renegades career. Tuesday night was already his third multi-hit game.

Lovich is batting .385/.448/.385 with 5 R, 4 RBI, 3 BB, 9 K, 3-for-4 SB in High-A.

SS Core Jackson (2-for-4, R, 2B, BB) reached base three times in his return from the IL.

Jackson hit his team-leading 17^th double of the season.

DH Eric Genther (1-for-4, R, 2B, BB) hit his 16^th double of the year.

RHP Jack Sokol (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) recorded the last four outs of the game on the mound for the Renegades and was the only pitcher to not allow a run.
