Young cut the deficit in half in the eighth inning with a two-run home run, his second home run of the game and fourth in his last six games.
Iowa brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom half of the ninth, but Carmen Mlodzinski recorded the final three outs to take game one of the series by a score of 7-4.
