Keys Record 80th Win of the Season in Victory Over Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – The Frederick Keys picked up their 80^th win on the season in game two of the six-game series against the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets), winning by a score of a 5-1 from Maimonides Park.

The Keys led the Cyclones wire-to-wire to get their 80^th win of the season and became the first Frederick team to achieve that win total since the 2011 season, when the Keys won the Carolina League.

Frederick brought home the night’s first run in the top of the first on a throwing error by the Cyclones starting pitcher in Emilio Obispo, handing the visitors the early advantage through the opening inning in game two of the series.

After the Keys and Cyclones traded zeros in the second inning, Keys starting pitcher Evan Yates tossed his second straight 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the third, keeping Frederick ahead by one approaching the fourth from Maimonides Park.

Yasmil Bucce added an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single, making it a 2-0 game entering the fifth inning from Coney Island.

In the sixth, RBI singles from Jaiden Lo Re and Jordan Sanchez sent in two more runs for the Keys, making it a 4-0 contest moving into the seventh inning on Wednesday night.

After each team went scoreless in the seventh inning, a pinch-hit home run for Andres Nolaya put the lead up to five for Frederick in the top of the eighth, but a solo homer for the Cyclones made it a four-run game at 5-1 approaching the ninth with Frederick looking to hold on.

Teddy Sharkey went on to retire the side in order in the bottom of the ninth with all three outs coming on strikeouts, as the Keys recorded their 80^th win of the season, winning game two of the series by a score of 5-1 in Brooklyn.
