Keys Secure Series Win with Walk-Off Win Against Tourists

FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Keys secured their eighth walk-off win of the season in game four of the six-game series with the Asheville Tourists (Astros) Saturday night, winning by a score of 8-7 at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
A Leandro Arias walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the Keys home with an 8-7 victory over the Tourists, securing the series as a result heading into the doubleheader on Sunday.
After Boston Bateman recorded a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, Yasmil Bucce handed the Keys an early 1-0 lead in the bottom frame on an RBI single, giving the Keys the quick advantage through the opening inning Saturday night.
With both teams finishing with zeros in the second, the Keys added one more run in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Braylin Tavera, giving Frederick a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth from the Key City.
In the bottom of the fourth, RBIs from Enddy Azocar and Randal Diaz in addition to a second RBI base hit from Tavera pushed the home team’s lead to five at 5-0 approaching the fifth on Wrestling Night.
Following the Keys and Tourists finishing with zeros in the fifth inning, the Tourists got on the board for the first time of the night with a two-run homer to left, making it a 5-2 game in favor of Frederick entering the seventh from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
The Tourists took their first lead of the night with a five-run top of the seventh, but two runs in the bottom frame thanks to a two-RBI triple from Braylon Whitaker evened things right back at seven all going into the eighth in a back-and-forth battle in game four of six.
After a scoreless eighth inning of play, the Keys turned a crucial double play with the bases loaded to keep Asheville off the board in the top of the ninth, setting up the stage for the Keys to try and walk it off in the bottom frame.
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Arias sent a ball into left field and plenty deep enough for Andres Nolaya to come from third, sending the Keys home winners by a score of 8-7 in front of close to 7,000 fans at Nymeo Field.
The Keys and Tourists conclude the six-game series Sunday afternoon with a single-admission doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
Sunday’s game represents Fan Appreciation Night with a mystery giveaway along with Sunday Funday presented by Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley. The mystery giveaway will take place throughout the first and second game.
