WILMINGTON, DE – The Frederick Keys earned the series opening win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals) Tuesday night, winning by a score of 4-1 at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.

The Keys used a three-run top of the fifth inning while holding the Blue Rocks to just four base hits on the night, as they took the first of seven games on the week with the doubleheader set to take place on Wednesday.

Boston Bateman began his night strong on the mound with a strikeout and scoreless bottom of the first inning, keeping it a scoreless game through the first inning of the seven-game series.

After both sides went off the board in the second, RJ Austin gave the Keys a 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout that brought home Edwin Amparo from third, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into the fourth Tuesday night.

Zac Lampton made his first appearance as part of his return to the Keys in the bottom of the fourth with a scoreless frame, allowing Frederick to stay ahead by one going into the fifth in Wilmington.

The Keys plated home three runs in the top of the fifth on a two-RBI single from Enddy Azocar and an RBI double from Ethan Anderson, increasing the lead for Frederick up to four at 4-0 approaching the sixth at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.

Following the Keys and Blue Rocks going scoreless in the sixth inning, Wilmington got its first run of the night on a solo homer from Jacob Walsh, cutting the deficit to a three-run margin at 4-1 heading into the eighth in the series opener.

Cohen Achen came on in relief in the eighth and picked up a 1-2-3 bottom frame, keeping the Keys ahead by three entering the ninth on the road.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Achen picked up his first save of the season as he retired all three batters he faced, handing the Keys the series opening victory over the Blue Rocks by a score of 4-1.

The Keys and Blue Rocks will play a doubleheader on Wednesday with the second game being a make-up from the postponed game on August 2 in Frederick. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. from Daniel S. Frawley Stadium with game two starting roughly 45 minutes after game one.
