Klimek Receives Call-Up

Klimek, 25, went 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 17 relief appearances for the Keys this season. Pitching 32.2 innings, he allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 22 hits to go with 18 walks and 31 strikeouts. The former St. Bonaventure product held opponents to a .190/.309/.259 slash line with a .567 OPS.
A midseason Carolina League All-Star, Klimek posted a 20-inning scoreless streak from May 1-June 11, while he did not allow a run in six May relief outings. During this time, he allowed just five hits in 14.1 innings and struck out a batter an inning.
From Rochester, NY, Klimek was originally selected by Baltimore in the 33rd round of the 2015 draft out of St. Bonaventure.
To go with Klimek, Baumann, 23, was called up to the Baysox on Friday after the Minnesota native started the Carolina League All-Star Classic, presented by Visit Frederick, on Tuesday at Nymeo Field. With the Keys he went 1-4 with a 3.83 ERA and was tied for the Carolina League lead with 77 strikeouts across 54 innings in the first half.
Picked by the Orioles in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Jacksonville, Baumann pitched two scoreless innings of relief in his Bowie debut on Saturday at Harrisburg.
