Portland, Maine - Ramon Rosso threw five scoreless innings and the Reading Fightin Phils (1-0) spoiled the party in Portland on Opening Day with a 4-0 win over the Sea Dogs (0-1) in front of a sellout crowd at Hadlock Field.

Rosso (W, 1-0) allowed just two hits while walking two and fanning four. Luke Leftwich (2 IP), Trevor Bettencourt (1 IP), and Addison Russ (1 IP) combined to complete the shutout for Reading. Fightins pitchers combined to strike out 13 Sea Dogs.
Mickey Moniak put the Fightins on the board with a two-out RBI single down the right-field line in the third inning. Reading added two more runs on a two-out, two-run bloop single by Austin Bossart off of Kyle Hart.
Hart (L, 0-1) set a new career high with 11 strikeouts. He also did not walk a batter. The southpaw allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings of work. It was the most strikeouts by a Sea Dogs pitcher since Aaron Wilkerson fanned 11 back in 2016.
Daniel McGrath and Adam Lau each fanned two batters apiece in relief. The 15 strikeouts by Sea Dogs' pitchers was the most since the team combined to strike out 16 Harrisburg Senators on June 23rd, 2016.
The Fightins scored their fourth run on an RBI single by Arquimedes Gamboa in the sixth.
