WILMINGTON, Del. (April 27, 2018) - Jimmy Lambert tied a career-high with nine strikeouts over a season-high six innings to lead the Dash to a series-opening, 5-0 win Friday night at Frawley Stadium over Wilmington.
Winston-Salem (12-10) gave Lambert (2-2) an early lead with a run in the first inning against Blue Rocks southpaw Cristian Castillo (1-2). After Joel Booker singled to lead off the game, he moved to third on a single from Alex Call. Micker Adolfo, who entered the night leading the Carolina League in RBIs, notched his 21st run batted in of the season with a sacrifice fly to right, giving the Dash a 1-0 lead.

That was all the run support Lambert would need. The right-hander cruised through his six innings of work, allowing just two hits and two walks to go along with his nine strikeouts.
The Dash extended their lead in the third. Booker started the inning with a bunt single, and Adolfo followed with a two-out walk to bring Yermin Mercedes to the plate. The Dash catcher drilled an 0-2 pitch from Castillo off the left-field fence to bring around both runners and give Winston-Salem a 3-0 advantage.
Booker, who entered the game leading the league in both batting average and on-base percentage, went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
Yeyson Yrizarri added to the Winston-Salem lead in the fifth. After Ti'Quan Forbes doubled, Yrizarri came to the plate trying to work out of an 0-for-20 slump. The Dash shortstop turned on a 3-2 pitch from Castillo and launched it over the left-field fence and into the Wilmington bullpen to make it a 5-0 game.
Left-hander Kyle Kubat tossed a scoreless seventh for Winston-Salem in his return to Frawley Stadium. The southpaw had pitched for the Blue Rocks as a member of the Kansas City Royals organization in 2016.
Right-hander Matt Foster finished out the game with two scoreless frames to complete the Dash's second shutout of the year.
Winston-Salem continues its series against Wilmington on Saturday. Left-hander Tanner Banks (first start) goes for the Dash against Blue Rocks right-hander Jace Vines (0-4, 10.26 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.
Winston-Salem will return home to BB&T Ballpark from May 1-6 for a six-game homestand, which will feature a pair of three-game sets against the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Buies Creek Astros. The promotions for the Dash's upcoming homestand include our first Free Food Tuesday on May 1, where fans can enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers through the seventh inning for the price of admission, a Pure Barre class on the field on May 3, and a Star Wars Night on May 4.
Meanwhile, the Dash will wear "Winston-Salem Rayados" jerseys on May 6, as part of the team's participation in Minor League Baseball's "Copa de la Diversión," or "Fun Cup," initiative, a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams' local Hispanic/Latino communities.
