O'Koyea Dickson crushed a two-run homer in the first to capture the momentum for the Dodgers and from there, the visitors never trailed. Iowa starter Williams Pérez settled in after that and allowed just one more run through his quality start. The righty lasted six innings, giving up seven hits while walking two and fanning five.
On the opposite bump, Wilmer Font was brilliant, fanning 11 I-Cubs through seven innings. Iowa did manage to tag the righty with two runs, despite Font's overpowering performance. Chris Dominguez singled to open the second, and set up an RBI double for Jeimer Candelario after stealing second. The RBI was the 100th of Candelario's Iowa Cubs career. Perez helped himself with a leadoff single in the fifth and eventually came around to score to make it a 3-2 game, still in favor of the Dodgers.
Iowa knotted the game in the eighth as Dominguez doubled and scored on a Taylor Davis single. The score didn't hold as Rios tagged a ball to right-center to clinch the game for Oklahoma City.
Domingez finished his night 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, recording his 17th multi-hit game in 23 tries. Davis assisted the offensive effort with a 3-for-4 game, his second three-hit game of the season, and an RBI.
Iowa and Oklahoma City continue the series with a 7:08 p.m. game tomorrow at Principal Park. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
