PENSACOLA, Fla. (June 14, 2018) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, pushed across a pair of runs in the eighth inning but fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4-2 Thursday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Trailing 4-0 through seven, Connor Justus reached base on a fielding error to begin the top of the eighth. Three batters later, he scored on a fielder's choice. Brennon Lund drove in another run with a single, but the BayBears (35-30) left two runners on base in both the eighth and ninth.
After giving up four runs in the first two frames, Alex Klonowski (3-1) held the Blue Wahoos (29-36) scoreless for the final four innings of his start. Despite allowing a career-high 12 hits, he worked out of trouble in several innings to minimize the damage. Klonowski finished with seven strikeouts and did not issue a walk.
Daniel Wright (3-4) earned the win with seven scoreless innings pitched. Mobile mustered just three hits against him and four total in the game.
