BILOXI, Miss. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp center fielder Braxton Lee has been named a 2017 Southern League Postseason All-Star, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

BILOXI, Miss. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp center fielder Braxton Lee has been named a 2017 Southern League Postseason All-Star, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Lee earns the superlative as one of the league's four best outfielders in 2017, after a compiling an impressive season between time with the Montgomery Biscuits and the Jumbo Shrimp. Overall, Lee is hitting a league-best .316 with three home runs and 37 RBI in 121 games played.

Lee was first honored by the league this season as a Midseason All-Star for his strong first half for the Biscuits, and then on June 26 he was traded from the Tampa Bay Rays organization to the Miami Marlins along with right-handed pitcher Ethan Clark (now with Single-A Greensboro) in exchange for Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarría.

Lee quickly saw success at the plate for the Jumbo Shrimp, and in his first week he hit .571 (12-for-21) with a home run, six runs batted in, two doubles, a triple, and six runs scored he was named the league's Player of the Week for June 26 to July 2.

Lee currently leads the Southern League in hitting with a .317 batting average, and is in line to win the 2017 Southern League batting title. Lee is also the Southern League hit king with 144 this season, second in runs scored with 78, is fourth in the league with a .400 on-base percentage, and is fourth in the league with 20 stolen bases. Lee also has played a stellar center field for the Biscuits and Shrimp, leading the Southern League with his 17 outfield assists.

Lee was originally selected by the Rays in the 12th round of the 2014 draft from Ole Miss. Lee, 23, is a native of Picayune, Mississippi. It was also announced earlier today that Lee will play in the prestigious Arizona Fall League later this autumn.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Shuckers will continue their series with the fourth game of the five-game set on Tuesday night at 7:35 p.m. ET. Left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters (6-2, 1.97 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Biloxi right-handed pitcher Jon Perrin (5-3, 3.19 ERA).
