Lugnuts fall to Fort Wayne, 11-4

LANSING, Mich. - Nick Sinay  went 3-for-4 with a two-run single, but the Lansing Lugnuts (19-16) lost 11-4 to the Fort Wayne TinCaps (15-23) on Tuesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.It was the Lugnuts' fourth consecutive loss after four straight wins.

LANSING, Mich. - Nick Sinay  went 3-for-4 with a two-run single, but the Lansing Lugnuts (19-16) lost 11-4 to the Fort Wayne TinCaps (15-23) on Tuesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

It was the Lugnuts' fourth consecutive loss after four straight wins.

Fort Wayne followed up a 10-2 win in the Monday series opener by scoring three runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third, and three runs in the fourth to jump out to a 9-0 lead. All runs were charged to Lansing starter Andy Ravel (Loss, 3-1), who allowed ten hits and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.

The 'Caps tacked on solo tallies in the sixth and seventh against reliever Geno Encina , before Nick Hartman held the visitors off the board in the eighth and ninth innings.

TinCaps starter Logan Allen(Win, 2-2) struck out six batters in six innings, holding the Lugnuts to three hits and a walk.

The Nuts avoided the shutout with a four-run ninth-inning rally against Fort Wayne reliever Mark Zimmerman. Ryan Hissey 's RBI double broke the ice, Sinay followed three batters later with a two-run single, and Edward Olivares supplied an RBI groundout.

The series finale is a Grand Slam School Day on a Winning Wednesday, with first pitch at 10:35 a.m. Lansing right-hander Justin Maese (4-2, 4.09) gets the start attempting to avoid the three-game sweep, opposed by Fort Wayne right-hander Austin Smith (2-2, 5.92) set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, by calling (517) 485-4500 or via lansinglugnuts.com.
