BELOIT, WI (May 30, 2017) - For the second time this season the Clinton LumberKings were walked-off by the Beloit Snappers, in an 8-7 loss on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field. The LumberKings (20-29) held two different leads but could not hold on against late Snappers (26-25) rallies.
The LumberKings offense was slow going at the start of the game, struggling against Snappers starter Dalton Sawyer. Clinton fell behind 1-0 after Beloit forced a run across in the third inning. Anthony Jimenez promptly tied the game with the LumberKings first hit of the night, a home run to center field that led off the fourth inning. The home run was Jimenez fifth of the season.
Clinton took their first lead of the night in the fifth on an RBI single from Luis Rengifo and then added on. In the top of the sixth, the LumberKings offense broke out for three runs. Joe Rizzo started the rally with his first home run of the season, a no doubter to right field.
Leading 5-1, the LumberKings could not enjoy their lead for long. Jack Anderson and Marvin Gorgas combined to work the bottom of the sixth and allowed four runs to score. All four of the runs were charged to Anderson, none were earned. Luke Persico had the Snappers big hit of the inning singling home two runs to tie the game at five.
Clinton claimed their second and final lead of the night in the top of the seventh inning when Kristian Brito scored on a Nate Mondou fielding error.

Clinton added a run in the eighth off of Yordys Alejo (2-1) but saw the Snappers come from behind against reliever Michael Koval. Beloit pulled to within one run in the eighth inning on a Mondou RBI single.
Koval (0-3) came out for the bottom of the ninth, and after retiring the first batter he faced allowed the next three men to reach, loading the bases. Eric Mariñez on the sixth pitch of his at-bat looped a single to left that scored the tying and winning runs for Beloit.
